Arisaema costatum

Do not be put off by the unusual look of these as they are easy to grow and ideal for most areas in the UK. Arisaema's are unusual but superb and once established in a shady spot with good drainage and plenty of leaf mould, will require little attention. They are quite spectacular plants for any garden. This variety has deep purple-black spathes tinged white, with large glossy leaves. Supplies are limited so order early. Using bulb starter will help the arisaema to establish.

Aspect: A shady spot in the garden.

Soil type: Free draining humus rich soils that do not dry out.

Flowering time: July-August
Height: 45-50cm
