Hedychium ellipticum has dense, many flowered spike of yellowish white. These uncommon but useful plants are best treated like cannas for summer bedding. In some places they are hardy but it is best to protect well against winter frosts if leaving out. Besides the attractive flowers the foliage also adds to the impact it will make in the garden. If planting in containers ensure they are regularly watered and fed during the growing season.
They may take a year or so to establish.
