Hyacinth Woodstock with its deep beetroot red flowers is well worth growing in your garden. Cultvate the soil to about 15cms and plant bulbs 10cms deep. Feed during flowering and protect young shoots from slugs and snails. Hyacinths are more often used in containers, but they are however excellent in the garden and underestimated for the colour they bring. Hyacinths are very fragrant and are easy to grow, either in the front of borders or in pots.
