Double snowdrops or flore pleno have been awarded a garden merit by the RHS as they really do perform well in most garden soil types. The flowers are a double form of the single snowdrop, pure white with a green marking on the inner petal tips. These bulbs are really excellent for naturalising. Ensure that they are planted in soil that has been cultivated to a depth of 15cms and is free draining. They are happy in shade and sun although in the sunnier areas the flowers will not last quite so long. Ensure that food such as well rooted compost or bone meal is available during the leaf and flower stage for them to produce flowers for the following spring. Can be grown in containers if required but do not use too much multi purpose compost in the pot. Work really well with aemone nemerosa and the specis crocus such as tommasinanus.
