Lion King Dutch Iris does resemble the colours of Simba in the movie the Lion King. The flowers are brown-purplish with falls that are veined a bronzy yellow which makes it a distinct variety that is a strong grower and well suited for growing in the garden or as cut flower. Dutch iris are best planted in large groups of 10 plus and are easy to grow. Cultivate the soil before planting to a depth of 20cms and ensure you have dug in enough organic matter to provide food in the first growing year. Happy to grow in semi to full sun in a well drained soil that does not dry out in the growing period for these bulbs which is June/July.
