Lilium regale AGM

White trumpet flowers, purplish maroon on the outside of the petals. Canary yellow throat and yellow anther. Heavily scented. One of the best lilies and our most popular seller. . Lilies are a very versatile garden plant as they can be grown in borders or containers around the house and garden. Lilies are best left undisturbed for years and only need to be moved when they become overcrowded. Plant them in a well drained soil and they are happy to be planted in the cooler parts of the garden as long as they get some sun during the day. When planting in heavy soils, drainage may be a problem so just add a handful of grit to the hole when planting and they will be fine. Cultivate the soil to a depth of 20cms and plant 10-15cms deep and 15cms apart.

Tip: Feed during flowering with bonemeal or similar.

AGM = Award of Garden merit given by the RHS.

Aspect: Semi shade to full sun. Happy in the colder parts of the garden.

Soil type: Free draining soils that do not get waterlogged.
